The importance of educating young people in reducing radical behaviors and violent extremism
Head of Communications Department at Bedër, Doc.Dr. Ramadan Chipuri attended the 3rd International Congress of "Scholas Chair" in Jerusalem, Israel.
This congress, organized at "Hebrew University of Jerusalem", brought together representatives from over 30 different universities from around the world.
One of the most important issues that was paid attention in the referrals of the participants was the importance of education in reducing the level of radical behavior and violent extremism among young people all over the world. The novelty of this organism was the introduction of concrete projects undertaken by different universities in this regard.
Dr. Chipuri in his speech presented the efforts of the Bedër University College in the fight against radicalism and violent extremism.
According to him, Albania is one of the model countries in terms of interfaith dialogue and harmony. The project initiated by Bedër for co-operation between the theological, the Islamic, Catholic and Orthodox schools and presented by Dr.Cipuri drew the attention of the participants. According to him, thanks to an initiative undertaken by the Islamic Sciences Department in Bedër, from 2014 onwards, more than 20 meetings and joint activities have been organized between three religious schools, such as conferences, seminars, roundtables, staff exchanges, meetings shared among students, etc.
The second initiative presented by Dr. Cheipur was the Coalition of Tolerance, established two years ago by Bedër students in the framework of the P2P Chalinging Extremism project. According to him, this alliance which started as an initiative within the country, now has returned to the region with members from Kosovo, Macedonia and beyond. Dr. MacPuri proposed that this initiative should be turned into a joint organization with all participating universities in Congress, a proposal that was welcomed by the participants.
Bedër University College, graduated the fourth generation of students
Bedër University College, graduated the fourth generation of students at a ceremony organized in the National Historical Museum.
Apart the numerous students who threw the graduation caps in the air, closing a very important part of their life, in this ceremony there were also present the rector of Bedër, Prof. Dr. Ferdinand Gjana, the head of the Albanian Muslim Community, Skender Bruçaj, rector of Epoka University, Prof. Dr. Güngör Turan, many personalities from the academic world, representatives of public and private institutions and also relatives and family members of the graduates.
Already in the sixth academic year, Bedër graduates about 220 new specialists in the field of Education, Justice, English Language and Literature, Communication, Islamic Sciences, Turkish Language and Literature.
During his greeting speech, the rector of the institution, Mr. Gjana expressed his enthusiasm for the success achieved in these three years. He further emphasized that the doors of the institution he leads will always be open to further support for the students.
“Be assured, you and your parents too, that we will be near you and with you in every moment that you need”-he said.
While Mr. Bruçaj focused on the image and quality that Bedër University College has built so far. He encouraged the graduated students to find always the best in the direction they will take in life.
"This institution gave you the best of it throughout the study programs, it provided you with the skills that you need to be the best in the labor market, now it’s your moment to prove it ," he concluded.
The ceremony continued with the distribution of excellence certificates according each study program. Ermelinda Gjeci, was rated as the highest student of the Bachelor in Law program, Xhorxhina Seferi as the best Student in Islamic Science, Ola Kafazi in Primary Education, Ersida Kurtaj in Counseling Psychology and Guidance, Donisa Perseku in Communication Science , Zamira Aga in English Language and Literature and Enxhi Kamberi in Turkish Language and Literature.
Further, all the graduated students in bachelor and master programs went on the stage to throw up the graduation hats.
Legal framework for states cooperation in managing the refugee migrant crisis
Department of Law at University College Beder, in cooperation with the Faculty of Law at Ljubljana University, Slovenia, organized the first International Conference on the topic: “Legal framework for states cooperation in managing the refugee migrant crisis”.
The opening ceremony of the conference was attended by the Vice Ambassador of Slovenia Ms. Masa Šiftari, Prof. Dr. Vasilka Sancin, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law at Ljubljana University, the Rector of our Institution Prof. Dr. Ferdinand Gjana, Head of Law Department at Beder University Mr. Ferdinand Xhaferaj, different academics coming from several Balkan countries, special guests and dozens of students.
After the opening speech of the chairman of the conference Mr. Xhaferaj, which welcomed all the guests and expressed his thanks to the cooperating institution representatives for concretizing this activity. After that, he left the speech to Vice Ambasador Ms. Šiftari which expressed her enthusiasm for the cooperation between the two countries not only in government level but also in academic level at this conference shows it clearly.
The Rector, Mr. Gjana, after delivering with the participants the importance of managing this type of crisis in nowdays, he emphasized that our common future should be built by the contribution of all of us so the mission of finding the best solutions for this crisis should be concrete as soon as possible.
After the opening ceremony the conference went further in parallel sessions where the participating speakers delivered different aspects regarding not only the migrant crisis actuality but also the best solutions adopted in each case.
Among the many topics that were addressed by the guests we can mention: “National security and the asylum right”, “Migration in international law”, “International security of migrants in the context of human rights”, “Legal implementations in solving migrant crisis and the challenge for management”.
Extremism in 21-st Century, The Role of Law, Media and Culture
University College Beder in cooperation with “Aldo Moro” University in Bari, Italy, organized the 5-th International Conference in human sciences with the subject: “Extremism in 21-st Century, Role of Law, Media and Culture”
Same as in previous editions the conference brought together academics, experts and profesionists of different fields to exchange experiences and scientific conclusions about the topic of the conference.
The conference papers were mainly focused on the role of law, media and culture in the context of violent extremism. This is evidenced by the diversity of the papers, such as: "Reporting Religious Topics in Online Media", "Religious Freedom", "The Role of Intercultural Dialogue with Society," "Rule of Law Contrary to Violent Extremism," " The Principle of Justice to Prevent Extremism "," Religious Pluralism in the Primary Source of Islam "etc.
After the opening session where attended a considered number of personalities, representatives of cooperative institutions, academic, media etc, the conference continued in several parallel sessions.
