Bedër Law students represent Albania at the International Criminal Court in Hague

Bedër University students represent Albania at the International Criminal Court in The Hague.

 

The Law Students of the University College Bedër represent Albania for the 5th time at the Imitating Trial organized by the University of Leiden, Holland in partnership with the International Criminal Court "ICC" and the International Bar Association "IBA".

 

The students Anxhela Buzi, Elida Mehhalla, Fioralba Markja, Monika Canana and Olivja Belishaku with the professor Dr. Nertil Bërdufi make up the competitive team in this international competition.

 

ICCMCC was greeted by Prof. Carsten Stahn, University of Leiden; Prof. Michael Scharf from CWR University, Joe Bell from IBA and ICJ Judge Kimberly Prost.

 

The International Criminal Court's trial simulation contest will take place on June 2-7, 2019 in The Hague, The Netherlands. This competition welcomes universities from all over the world for a high level of debate, simulating the proceedings of the International Criminal Court. The competition consists of a packed educational and social program of six days bringing together students from different backgrounds and cultures in The Hague to challenge their skills as future international advocates.

 

The final round is expected to take place in a courtroom with a concrete panel of the International Criminal Court.

 

The competition involves co-operation with judges from international courts, professors of international law (criminal) and other legal professionals. This network makes the contest a realistic simulation of the hearings held at the International Criminal Court. The competition issues address the fundamental issues of International Criminal Law as both procedural and substantive.

 

70 teams from 55 different countries of the world are listed in the 2019 edition of the International Criminal Court Judicial Contest Contest. For the first time, there is also a representative team from Russia.

 

Supporting students in activities at home and abroad and training them to compete with their colleagues around the world is one of the top priorities of Bedër University.
