The International Conference on Social Sciences and Education
The Faculty of Philology and Education, as well as the Department of Education Sciences at Bedër University College, held the 7th International Conference in the field of Social Science and Education ICESS 2019.
This year's activity brought together academics and scholars from 4 different countries of the region and Europe, where 40 original works with impact in the field of social sciences and education were presented.
The conference papers were greeted by Dean of the Faculty of Philology and Education, Prof. Assoc. Dr. Tidita Abdurrahmani, who after thanking the participants for their participation in the activity, emphasized the importance of addressing new approaches in the field of education and of social sciences as a whole.
Further, Deputy / Dean of the Faculty of Philology and Education and at the same time Head of the Department of Education Sciences, Dr. Art Omer expressed in his greeting speech optimistic about discussing the problems and new approaches facing the field of education in recent years.
The conference continued its work in different sessions. Among the many topics addressed by the participants were "Theoretical approaches to language development in children", "The Importance of Emotional Intelligence Development in Teacher Education Study Programs", "We Recall Our Good Teachers" ; "Perception of the Albanian society for children with Down syndrome"; "Self-assessment of performance at work";
The conference papers were attended by dozens of students and graduates from the Department of Education Sciences at Bedër University College.
Bedër University College organized for the third consecutive year the award ceremony for graduates. In this event were attended graduates, academic and administrative staff who have given the university's contribution over the years, as well as distinguished figures from the field of literature, culture, art and education.
The ceremony was opened by the representative of the Graduate Office, Jola Marku, who emphasized that this office under the example of western universities aims to influence the shaping of a culture in terms of university-graduate activities and relations. She said that the experience of graduates in the professional field is a support to the institution and not only they are also a valuable help and reference for other graduates or graduate students.
Then the speech was received by the Rector of Bedër University College, Prof. Dr. Ferdinand Gjana, who said that this activity is a form of motivation that supports the successes of graduates, having the confidence that will be on the rise. He also described the support that graduates give to each other in the name of common achievements.
During the ceremony, a total of 9 prizes were awarded, from which 6 awards were awarded as gratitude and encouragement for former students who have become inspirational models thanks to their work and achievements in professional careers. Meanwhile, 3 other special awards were selected by the academic staff of the university to accord personalities in the field of arts, science, culture, literature and education for their contribution.
Career Award was awarded to Desara Dushi graduate with the motto "For the outstanding professional achievements reflecting the example of a prominent professional in his field and becoming a source of inspiration for students, graduates and the community as a whole" .
The "Beder Award" was awarded to the Erzen Carja graduates with the motto "For the valuable intellectual and material contribution offered to Beder College College with an impact on reputation enhancement and by supporting graduates of graduates and students in easier integration with the market work or professional growth ".
Eagle's winner was Trendelina Omuri, with the motto 'For the distinguished activity in raising awareness and taking social responsibilities for the benefit of society while keeping alive the national cultural values'
Price 'Hajj. Vehbi Dibra 'was awarded the diploma of Migena Jani, with the motivation "For the valuable contribution in education, science, art and social peace by conveying moral, ethical and universal values in Albanian society and beyond it in the footsteps of the bright figure of H. Vehbi Debar. "
Zamira Aga won the Women Empowerment Award with the motivation "To support, encourage, co-operate, and endeavor to empower the role of women as a great force of our society, creating more social, political and economic security for them ".
The Young Entrepreneurs Award was awarded to the graduate Olta Peca with the motivation "On entrepreneurial initiatives, providing innovative ideas and projects in certain areas of service as an inspirational model for other graduates, for students as well as for the community as a whole".
During the ceremony were awarded special prizes where the winners were Mr. Patozi with the motivation "For special contribution and dedication in the field of education for years, by conveying to young people the love of knowledge, of social, religious and patriotic values".
Professor Hamit Boriçi was praised with the motto "For the valuable contribution to the opening and supplementation of the journalism department, the design of study programs, university textbooks as well as for research and innovation; everything put in the service of qualitative preparation of media professionals and scholars. " This award was awarded by the Chairman of the PCC Bujar Spahiu, who praised the ceremony and efforts of teachers to teach younger generations.
The students of the Second Scientific Master in Public Relations and Journalism, under the leadership of the Edlira Mali lecturer, won the award with the motivation "For the distinguished activity in raising awareness and taking social responsibilities for the benefit of society while keeping alive the national cultural values." The prize was awarded from former chairman of KMSH Mr. Skender Brucaj who appreciated the support that the academic staff and the students give each other to succeed in the professional field.
Ceremonies like these are part of the models and practices followed by other well-known universities as a form of return of former students to the bays of educational institutions, already as colleagues among them.
Law students of Bedër represent Albania at the Jessup international competition
Congratulations to the students of the Department of Law, who represented Albania in the international competition Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition.
Already in its 60s, Jessup is the world's largest international competition for law students, attended by more than 700 Universities from around the world.
International rounds took place on March 31 - April 6, 2019, at the Hyatt Regency in Kapitol Hill, Washington, DC.
Bedër University College students competed with students from Indonesia, Brazil, India and Iraq, and received positive suggestions from jury members for the shown performance.
The team consisted of Thoma Kristo, Razie Hela and Ines Sota, as well as coaches Daniel Klingenberg and Albi Cela.
The "Bedër" team is the only one from Albania that is represented in this prestigious competition for the sixth consecutive year, making a very dignified appearance.

US Embassy of Tirana Officer meeting with students and graduates of Bedër University Collage
The Head of Public Relations Office at the US Embassy in Tirana, Mr. Brian Beckmann, held a conversation with the students of the Department of Communication Sciences at Bedër University College. Along with students at the bachelor and master level, part of the meeting were also former graduate students from this department, engaged in various media of the country. The discussion focused on the topic: "Media freedom, relationship with politics and the challenges of journalists in Albania".
Mr Beckmann during his speech underlined the importance of media freedom for the development of democracy and the important role it plays by saying the TRUTH. He also noted the need for a transparent relationship between media and politics as a need for fair and uninformed public information. Later, expressing support for the work of journalists, Mr. Beckmann highlighted many challenges facing reporters, the role that media owners have and their interests that may be related to politics. It was also highlighted the importance of evidencing and reflecting corruption cases as well as the essential role that investigative journalism has for recording and verifying these cases.
"If you try to highlight the truth, you will help not only to shape the future of Albania, but also to contribute to a better functioning society. You should prepare your neighbors and fellow citizens by giving the information that is need to become better citizens." said Mr. Beckmann students.
Further, the head of the Public Affairs Office at the US Embassy spoke about the importance of local media in reflecting on community problems, bringing the US media example and the interest people have for this news category.
Following Mr Beckmann's speech, the meeting continued in a form of discussion between students and attendees. Young students and journalists showed interest in the role of new media in the development of democracy, such as the impact of "fake news", the pressure that journalists face today in Albania, and the impact that social media have on the democratization of the information space .
The Second Student Conference in Islamic Science is held
Students of the Department of Islamic Sciences organized the second student conference in Islamic Sciences, on the topic: "The intellectual aspects in the Islamic Culture magazine 1939-1946".
In this conference were discussed about the history, values and objectives of this magazine, attended by the Chairman of the Muslim Community of Albania, the director of the Medresah of Tirana, professors and students of Bedër, and students from the Medresah of Tirana.
The conference opened with reading The Quran from the student Abdullah Ziba and then the greeting speech was taken over by the Department of Islamic Sciences, Dr. Genti Kruja, who made a general presentation about the Muslim press and periodicals after the proclamation of Independence.
The Vice Chairman of the KMSH, Lauren Luli spoke of the challenges that the bodies of the Muslim community and in particular the Islamic press passed year after year. He also talked about the need to recognize old magazines that will enrich our world with the stories and contributions our ancestors have left.
The greeting speech was received by the director of the Tirana Medresah, Ali Zaimi, whose speech focused on the role played by periodics in the lives of young people, the contribution they can show with their talents, and so on.
Subsequently, the conference continued the work with two sessions, where students referred to their works.
